TINNITUS with a Cochlear Implant???!!!!?!?!?!?!?!??!?

Hi there,

It's been a while .... I know. I had a stressful week. I feel bit drained...

NANOWRIMO:
Nanowrimo took away my power and other things too. I will not finish nanowrimo in time.. I am stuck at 20,000 words and it's not possible for me to catch up to finish before December... I had to many days in between where I didn't write. I will continue on my novel but in my own pace and when all this is over I will continue to write. I have to many other projects where I'm working on at the same time, so that it's just too much.... and nanowrimo... well I KNOW I CAN write a book in a month. I have proved it 3x and this year it's just not the right time. I am working, I have family and other things that it's impossible.

TINNITUS:
Isn't it a bit unusual to have tinnitus after a cochlear implant? I've heard different stories so far on tinnitus after a CI surgery. Some day gets louder others say it disappears. Mine did disappear but it did come back.. it's not always there but sometimes it is... as this morning...

Here's a poetry video from my book. I thought to record it as it was right for the moment. That is how a sleepless night looks like.. sometimes.

What do you think? Isn't that a bit strange? Does anyone else has that "problem"? Feel free to share or discuss with me.

Thanks for reading!

  1. hi sandra!

first time i read you was on youtube and as you started to talk about this blog i just followed.
i really like the text above, which says, not to discriminate and to respect everyone's own choice. just wanted to thank you for that :-) .

well, ich also wanted to answer on that question you made about tinnitus. i have it since 1999 and i'm hard of hearing in cause of the meniere's desease, so one day i will also have to decide to have or not to have CI. but tinnitus is a thing, that can appear or disappear just like "he" wants to do, doesn't matter why you have him (i always say "him", don't really know why ;-) )it's always the same. so don't you worry about that,it's quite normal.

just try to ignore him, even if it's hard sometimes, but brain will learn ;-) . but sometimes you have to listen to hin, that's when he wants to tell you, that you have to calm down a bit, so he is also a little helper in your life, try to see it from this angle, it really helped me.

well, that's it. thanks a lot for sharing this all and i hope you will go further this way you went and still going.
und mein englisch war auch schonmal besser :-).

liebe grüsse aus good ol' germany ;-) .
    dani.

    1. Hi Dani!!! It's soooo nice to hear from you!! Thank you for leaving me a comment! I'm pleased to read it =)) It's nice to know that you are reading my blog. I heard some people say you should not listen to it and it will disappear others say it's a warning sign that it's too much for your ears. Not sure which is true but it's part of our lives right :)

      Danke nochmals!!! Freut mich sehr!
      ♡-liche Grüße,
      Sandra

  2. Hi, my sister, deaf from birth, got a CI 7wks ago. She is hearing sounds but not processing them yet. But she now has tinnitus which she never had and cannot sleep at night - it is a nightmare for her but I cannot find information on this. When you google, it all comes up for CI as a treatment for tinnitus as opposed to the cause?

  3. Hi Danielle,

I just had a talk with someone of my friends today about this topic and I said that the tinnitus can become more intense after a surgery than before, or it can completely disappear. I'm sorry your sister got tinnitus :((( must be awful. I hope it goes away by itself. Maybe she can try not to concentrate much on that sound. I too hear it sometimes but I try not to pay much attention to it.

I hope it gets better. Sorry for late response. I was on vacation and didn't check my blog until now :)
